About the Hanukkah Holiday
光明节简介
According to Jewish tradition, about 2170 years ago, a Hanukkah miracle took place, in which a small group of observant Jews defeated the vast Greek army, expelled it from the Land of Israel, and recaptured the Temple.
Apart from the miraculous victory in the war, another miracle occurred: after the re-conquest of the Temple, the Jews sought to light the menorah. Due to the Greeks raging in the temple, the Jews found no pure olive oil kosher for lighting, except for one jug of single olive oil that remained sealed with the seal of the high priest. The amount, which was supposed to be enough for only one day - ignited for 8 days, during which they prepared a new amount of pure kosher and pure olive oil.
In memory of these miracles and in order to make them public, the sages corrected the holiday of Hanukkah. The main mitzvah on the holiday is to light the menorah every eve of the holiday. On the first night one candle is lit, and each day another candle is added, until the eighth night of Hanukkah, when we light all eight candles.
根据犹太人的传统，大约在2170年前，发生了光明节奇迹，一小群虔诚的犹太人击退了庞大的希腊军队，将其驱逐出以色列，并重新夺回了圣殿。
除了在战争中获得胜利的奇迹，还有另一个奇迹发生：在重新夺回圣殿后，犹太人试图点亮烛台。由于希腊军队在圣殿里肆虐，犹太人没有找到纯洁的洁食橄榄油来使用，只有一罐用祭司长的印章密封的橄榄油。这罐油的量本来只够一天，然而却维持了八天，在此期间，犹太人有充足的时间准备了新的犹太洁食和纯洁的橄榄油。
为了纪念这些奇迹，并向大众公布，圣人修改了光明节这一节日。它的主要仪式是在节日前夜点燃烛台。在第一个晚上点燃第一支蜡烛，之后每天点燃多一支，直到光明节的第八个晚上，所有的八支蜡烛全都被点燃。

On 28th November 2021, a Hanukkah event was held in Beijing. The event had the goal of bringing Chinese and Israeli communities together for a night of traditions and celebrations.
2021年11月28日，中国以色列商会举办了一场光明节庆祝活动。中国和以色列朋友欢聚一堂，进行传统的庆祝仪式。

The celebration started with the show from Jingdengtai Chori, people joined in and sang traditional Jewish songs together.
晚会在金灯台合唱团的演唱中拉开序幕，活动气氛热烈，现场嘉宾参与其中，合唱犹太传统歌曲。

Then came the famous lighting of the candles. Yuval Ben Sadeh, Chairman of IsCham, together with the kids, lit candles to show unity and embracing the spirit of this special holiday.
