exchange. This evening event featured special guest Israeli director Mr. Dan Wolman. An internationally-acclaimed director, Mr. Wolman has won multiple awards for his films, as well as invitations to Cannes, Venice and Beijing film festivals screening his works. Initially brought to Shanghai by the Shanghai International Film Festival, Mr. Wolman—together with IsCham and Sinim Investment group—put together this evening to share his fifty years of experiences in the Israeli film industry.

While enjoying Israeli films, music and wine, Chinese and Israeli businesspeople held an insightful discussion led by Director Wolman about history, memory, and art. Participants were curious to learn about Israeli films, and specifically the way Wolman touches on historical events in his works, dealing with such periods as Israel under the British Mandate and other seminal periods in the previous century.

With his experience of multiple collaborations with local Chinese artists, Mr. Wolman offered valuable insights on the potential of Sino-Israeli cooperation during his conversation with Harel Sholovitz, manager of IsCham Chamber in Shanghai, and Mr. Boaz Jing, of Sinim Investment Group. They shared their thoughts on a wide range of topics, such as finding the balance between obtaining funding while maintaining a creative headspace. The conversation went on to highlight their shared vision for a future of increased Sino-Israeli collaboration in the arts and business sectors. Arts and business, hand in hand, will bring about the emergence of new masterworks, like ‘An Israeli Love Story’, for the world to enjoy.
